Philipp Wilhelm Schmidt, a farmer, and his wife Johanna settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 32.

The 1767 census records that Philipp Wilhelm Schmidt came from the German region of Frankfurt am Main.
