The baptism of two children of Conrad & Anna Barbara Kempel have been found in the parish register of Unterreichenbach (both born in Oberreichenbach): (1) Johann Heinrich, baptized 26 December 1753; (2) Sebastian, baptized 14 September 1756.
Konrad Kembel/Kempel, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Anna, age 20; Johann, age 16; Sebastian, age 10½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Huck on 1 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 50.
The 1798 census of Balzer records Sebastian Kembel from Huck in Household No. Bz065.
The death of Sebastian Kempel in 1828 is recorded on the 1834 census of Balzer in Household No. 173.
Descendants of Sebastian Kempel are recorded on the 1857 census of Balzer in Households No. 178, 252, 253.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Konrad Kempel came from the German region of Isenburg.
