Johannes Braun, a mason (Maurer), and his wife Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Beauregard on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 21.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Braun came from the village of Fribourg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Braun family among the Volga German colonies.
