The parish register of St. Martinus Catholic Church in Hattersheim records that Peter Volup, a soldier in the Volunteer Legion of Austrasia [belonging to] the King of Gaul, married on 10 December 1762 in Hattersheim to Maria Ursula Görtz. She is believed to be the daughter of Johannes Lambert Görtz & Maria Katharina Geist (1703 - 2 November 1763) who was born 23 January 1736.
The baptisms of the following children born to Peter Volup and Maria Ursula Görtz are recorded in the parish register of St. Martinus Catholic Church in Hattersheim: (1) Johannes, baptized 18 September 1763; and (2) Maria Katharina, baptized 2 February 1765.
Peter Volup, a miller, and his wife Ursula arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the 2-masted merchant ship named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.
Peter Volup (age 33), a farmer, and his wife Ursula (age 28) are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 24. They had arrived in Keller on 12 May 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Volup came from France while the 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Konz in the Kurtrier region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
