Discussion & Documentation

Michael Mehrlein, a farmer, and his wife Barbara arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.

Michel Mörlein [sic] and his wife Barbara are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

In 1788, Michael Mehrlein and his family moved from Neu-Kolonie to Hölzel.

Michael Mehrlein and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Hölzel in Household No. Hz38.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Michael Mehrlein came from the German region of Bamberg.
