Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Gerlach, a single tailor (Schneider), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 where he is recorded along with his new wife, Katharina, on the 1767 census in Household No. 8.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Gerlach came from the German region of Braunfels. The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Gerlach came from the German village of Allendorf near Braunfels.
