Wilhelm Kloss, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Wilhelmina, age 10; Johann, age 6) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 21 July 1766 aboard a koff named Alette under the command of Skipper Wybe Hendricks.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kukkus on 26 June 1767 where they are recorded on the 1767 census in Household No. 50.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Wilhelm Kloss came from the German region of Braunfels. The 1767 census records that he came from the German village of Holzhausen near Braunfels.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Kloss family among the Volga German colonies.
