Jakob Bartelson, a single farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 15 December 1765. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 14.

The 1767 census records that he came from the village of Äbo.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
