Johann Egeus, a single surveyor (Landmesser), settled in the Volga German colony of Galka on 6 June 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11.

The 1767 census records that Johann Egeus came from the German village of Bass.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
