Widower Friedrich Neher, a farmer, and his son Georg (age 12) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 May 1766 aboard a galliot named Гданьская Надежда (Gdansk Hope) under the command of Skipper Johann Erdmann Geske.
Friedrich Neher, a craftsman (Handwerker), his [new] wife Rosina Dorothea, and children (Georg Friedrich, age 12; Maria Christina, age ¼) are recorded on the 1767 census of Messer in Household No. 33. They had arrived in Messer on 18 June 1767.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Friedrich Neher came from the German village of Ulm.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
