Jakob Dorlot, a soldier (Soldat), and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 16 July 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Dorlot came from the German village of Blanenbach.
Some early translations record this surname as Dorlosch, but later documents record it clearly as Dorlot(h).
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
