Peter Kern, a farmer, and his family arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 29 July 1766 aboard the ship Apollo under the command of Skipper Friedrich Detloff Mörenberg.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 13 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.

The 1767 census records that Peter Kern came from the German village of Stroumbach in the Würzburg region.
