Adam Künzel, a single carpenter (Zimmermann), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the ship Mann und Frau under the command of Skipper Daniel Berg.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 66 along with his new wife, son, and stepson (Johann Philipp Ohl).
The widow and children of Adam Kanzel [sic] are recorded on the 1798 census in Households No. 5 & 6.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Adam Künzel came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
Some sources translate this surname as Kanzel, but this is believed to be an error.
