Mattias Hoff, his wife Margaretha, and children (Margaretha, age 7; Eva, age 5; Johann, age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Adler under the command of Skipper Paul Adam Drath.
Matthias Hoff, his wife Margretha, and daughter Margretha (age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Hölzel on 11 September 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.
In 1788, Mattias Hoff and his family moved from Hölzel to Keller.
The 1798 census of Neu-Kolonie records Mathias Hoff from Hölzel in Household No. Nk36.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Mathias Hoff was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a miller (Müller).
The 1767 census records that Mathias Hoff came from the German village of Fell in the Trier region.
