Philipp Hoff, a farmer, his wife Gertruda, and children (Katharina, age 6; Michael, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the snow-brig Frei Gebruder under the command of Skipper Minzberger.
Philipp Hoff, a farmer, his wife Gertrude, and son Georg Adam (age ½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Hölzel in Household No. 40. They had settled in Hölzel on 11 September 1767.
The 1767 census records that Philipp Hoff came from the German village of Salz in the Kurpfalz region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Hoff family among the Volga German colonies.
