Peter Bartel, a farmer, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Diana under the command of Skipper Markus Draguhn.
Peter Barbel [sic] and his wife Anna are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Peter Bartel arrived in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 53 along with his [new] wife Elisabeth, and her son Nikolaus [Trausch]. [See Trausch Family.]
Also living with them is Margaretha Rettel [Redel] (age 14) whose parents died before leaving Germany. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Bartel and the Redel families. [See Redel Family.]
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Bartel came from Luxembourg. The 1767 census records that Peter Bartel came from the village of Befort in Luxembourg.
