Johann Wendel Marger [sic], a farmer, his wife Elisabeth Margaretha, and their daughter Maria Margaretha (age 14) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the galliot Die Fortuna under the command of Skipper Peter Stahl.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Beideck and are recorded there on the 1775 census in Household No. 41 under the surname Merker.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Wendel Marger [sic] came from the German region of Darmstadt.
