Discussion & Documentation
Johann Christian Herr, a craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Schäfer on 1 August 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 11 along with his new wife Anna Barbara from the German village of Winterbach in the Zweibrücken region.
The 1767 census records that Johann Christian Herr came from the German town of Leipzig in the region of Sachsen (Saxony).
There are no known surviving male lines of this Herr family among the Volga German colonies.
