Gottfried Hartmann, a farmer, and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 27 July 1765.

They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 31. The 1767 census records that Gottfried Hartmann came from the German village of Wössingen in the Grafschaft Durlach.

There is a Gottfried Hartmann who immigrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) in 1762. The Eichhorns record that he could be the same man that settled in Rosenheim.
