Discussion & Documentation

Lorenz Rehauser, a baker (Bäcker), his wife Elisabeth, and sons (Peter, age 8; Johann, age 8) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Diana under the command of Skipper Markus Draguhn.

Lorenz Rehauser, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and twin sons (Johannes & Peter, age 7) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 19 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 60.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Lorenz Rehauser came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that Lorenz Rehauser came from the German village of Rimelshein [perhaps Rümmelsheim] in the Kurmainz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
