Johann [Peter] Philipp, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and son Johann (age 3) arrived from Lübeck at the port in Oranienbaum on 17 July 1766 aboard a pink named Lev (Lion) under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.
Surviving son Johann Georg settled in the Volga German colony of Pfeifer on 20 August 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2 along with the Peter Schwindt family.
The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Philipp and the Schwindt families.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Philipp came from the German region of Mainz. The 1767 census records that he, like the Schwindt family, came from the German village of Aschaffenburg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Philipp family among the Volga German colonies.
