Jakob Maibauer, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Margaretha, and their daughter Christina (age ¾) settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 16.
In 1776 [probably 1786], Jakob Maibauer moved from Herzog to Moscow.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Maibauer came from the German village of Augsburg in Bayern (Bavaria).
