Sebastian Koch, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Barbara settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 9.

The 1767 census records that Sebastian Koch came from the German village of Mulfingen near Würzburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Koch family among the Volga German colonies.
