Discussion & Documentation
Johannes Krastel, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18 with a note that he's actually living with Leonhard Kenner.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Krastel came from the German village of Pilsheim bei Schmidmühlen in Bayern (Bavaria).
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
