Michael Rurenschop, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 19.

The 1767 census records that Michael Rurenschop came from the German village of Stauf in the Ansbach region and that his wife came from the German village of Roding in Bayern (Bavaria).

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
