Johann Burhoven [sic], a single miller (Müller), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the snow-brig named Christina under the command of Skipper Jacob Stappenberg.

Johann Burhoven [sic] (age 19) settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 26 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 133.

Johannes Burghofen [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn04.

Johannes Burgoven [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Brabander in Household No. 4.

The sons of Johannes Burghoff [sic] and their families are recorded on the 1834 census of Brabander in Households No. 11, 66, & 115.

The surname of Burghoff continues on the 1850 and 1857 censuses.

The 1767 census records that Johann Burhoven came from the village of Medernach in Luxembourg.
