Johann Burhoven [sic], a single miller (Müller), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard the galliot named Elisabeth Catharina under the command of Skipper Heinrich Ludwig Gottknecht.
Johann Burhoven [sic] (age 19) settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 26 June 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 133.
Johannes Burghofen [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn04.
Johannes Burgoven [sic] and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Brabander in Household No. 4.
The sons of Johannes Burghoff [sic] and their families are recorded on the 1834 census of Brabander in Households No. 11, 66, & 115.
The surname of Burghoff continues on the 1850 and 1857 censuses.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Burhoven [sic] came from France. The 1767 census records that he came from the village of Medernach in Luxembourg.
