Peter Wellinger, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 17; Maria, age 13; Elisabeth, age 8; Maria, age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 September 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Peter Vellinger, his wife Catharina, and children (Philip, age 18; Maria Apollonia, age 14; Margaretha, age 8; Elisabetha, age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Elisabetha died en route.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Kaneau.
In 1786, Philipp Wellinger and his family moved from Kaneau to Schäfer.
Philipp Wellinger from Kaneau and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. Ka107 along with a note that his son Johann Georg Wellinger is working in Kaneau.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Peter Wellinger came from the German region of Kreutzen.
