History

Shumanovka was founded in 1911 by Mennonites from the Black Sea region who were joined by Mennonites from the Orenburg region. The village was named for Nikolaus (son of Karl) Schumann, the head of resettlement and land management in what was at that time called the Tomsk Province.

During the 1941 Deportation, Volga Germans were resettled in Shumanovka.
