Louis [Ludwig] Jardins, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 114.
Louis des Jardins (age 37), a cobbler (Schuster), his wife Maria Carnel née Wonters (age 37), and daughters (Maria Anna, age 7; Elisabeth, age 3) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 127 along with a note that they have been "assessed?" [Beurleilt] in Kazan since 1775.
The 1767 census records that Ludwig Jardins came from the city of Paris in France. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Luis des Jardins came from the French city of Paris and that Maria Wonters came from the city of Amsterdam.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
