Antoine Capitaine, a plowman (laboureur) and maker of fine tin-glazed pottery (fayancier), age 23, is recorded on a list of French colonists dated September 1764.

Anton Capitaine, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 28 July 1765. He, his wife Anna Helena, and their son Peter (age 1) are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.

The 1764 list of colonists records that Antoine Capitaine came from the French region of Bassigny. The 1767 census records that Anton Capitaine came from the French village of Chameau Abvsini [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
