Discussion & Documentation

Jakob Duchscherer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Maria, age 14; Maria, age 12; Anton, age 3; Johann, age 2) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Ober-Monjou on 17 August 1767. Jakob died and his widow remarried to Johannes Fuchs. The combined Fuchs / Duchscherer family is recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 50.

The Oranienbaum passenger list does not record from where Jakob Duchscherer came.
