Johann[es] Franz, a single blacksmith (Schmied), arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 31 May 1766 aboard the pink Slon under the command of Lieutenant Sergey Panov.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 168.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Franz came from the German village of Nauheim in the Hanau region.
