Johannes Adam Gebhard, a farmer, and his wife Anna Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Herzog on 14 July 1766 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 24.
The 1767 census records that Johannes Adam Gebhard came from the German village of Neuburg in Bayern (Bavaria).
