Charles Genin, a winemaker (Vigneron), age 25, is recorded on a list of French colonists dated September 1764.

Charles Genie [sic], a farmer, his wife Maria, and their daughter Maria Françoise (age 12) settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 28 July 1765. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 3.

The 1764 list of colonists records that Charles Genin came from the French region of Lorraine. The 1767 census records that Charles Genie came from the village of Nans [Nancy?] in France.
