Peter Horst migrated to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) arriving in Flensburg on 26 June 1762.

The parish register of Großsolt in Schleswig-Flensburg records on 27 July 1762 the marriage of Peter Horst & Susiana Zweiger [?].

In August 1763, Peter Horst, his [unnamed] wife, and [unnamed] child are recorded among the Danish colonies.

The parish register of Sieverstedt [Denmark] records on 1 August 1763 the death of Christopher Friedrich Horst [parents are not recorded].

The parish register of Sieverstedt [Denmark] records on 15 September 1763 the baptism of Caspar Horst, son of Peter Horst & Susanna Schmidt.

On 24 April 1765, they are recorded on the farmstead Rumohrs Hof in the Danish colony of Christianshöhe.

They deserted the Danish colonies in 1765 and joined the migration to Russia.

Peter Horst and his family settled in the Volga German colony of Rosenheim on 15 March 1766.

Peter Horst, a farmer, his wife Regina Susanna, and sons (Kaspar, age 4; Georg Michael, age 2) are recorded on the 1767 census of Rosenheim in Household No. 49.

Friedrich Horst from Rosenheim and his family are recorded on the 1862 census of Gnadendorf.

The Eichhorns record that Peter Horst came "from Menzingen bei Sulzfeld, Herrschaft von Freiherr von Menzinger, Ritterlicher Kanton Kraichgau, Schwäbischer Ritterkreis or from Württemberg." The 1767 census records that Peter Horst came from the German village of Melzing in Austria.
