Discussion & Documentation

Widower Johann Neumann, a farmer, and his children (Adam, age 26; Margaretha, age 12; Peter, age 7) arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.

Surviving son Peter is recorded on the 1767 census of Göbel in Household No. 36 along with the Johannes Bachmann family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Neumann and Bachmann families.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Neumann came from the German region of Mainz.
