Jean Douset [sic], a barber (Friseur), and his wife Anna settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 1 September 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 61.
The 1764 list of colonists records that Jean Doucet came from the French region of Normandy. The 1767 census records that Jean Douset [sic] came from France.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
