Discussion & Documentation

Friedrich Dubach and his wife Katharina arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 26 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Die Jäger (The Hunter) under the command of Skipper Gabriel Will.

The Schilling parish register records the birth of Christopher Thomas Dubach, son of Johann Friedrich Ludewig Dubach & Katharina Elisabeth Scheidberger, on 16 March 1767 in Kolomna while en route to the colonies from St. Petersburg.

Friedrich Dubach (age 27), a guilder (Vergolder), his wife Katharina Elisabeth (age 30), and son Thomas Christoph (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Warenburg in Household No. 149. They had arrived in Warenburg on 12 May 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Friedrich Dubach was a silversmith from the German region of Bernau. The 1767 census records that he was a guilder (Vergolder) from the town of Potsdam.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Dubach family among the Volga German colonies.
