Johann[es] Kortz, a single man, arrived from Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 30 May 1766 aboard the pink Novaya Dvinka under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Göbel on 20 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 64 along with his new wife Karolina.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Kortz was a cobbler from the German village of Oppenheim. The 1767 census records that he was a farmer from the German village of Rodenbach in the Kurmainz region.
