Franz Güter, his wife Anna, and children (Concordia, age 5; Maria, age 3) arrived from Danzig at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 May 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Jakob Janson.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Husaren on 17 February 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27 along with his wife Anna and 1-month-old daughter Eva Katharina.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Franz Gütor was a horse doctor while the 1767 census records that he was a blacksmith (Schmied).
