Lei Kner, a farmer, settled in the Volga German colony of Franzosen on 23 May 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 62 along with his new wife Maria Sophia.

The 1767 census records that Lei Kner came from the French village of Lespinoy.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
