Kaspar Gattinger and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 July 1766 aboard a barque named Georg under the command of Skipper Adam Bairnsfair.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 23 July 1767. Kaspar is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 55 along with his new wife Margaretha Lion.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Kaspar Gattinger was a mechanic while the 1767 census records that he was a locksmith (Schlosser) and soldier (Soldat).
The 1767 census records that Kaspar Gattinger came from the Zürich Kanton in Switzerland.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
