Fuhr (Frank)*

Johann Hermann Fuhr, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard the galliot Johannes under the command of Skipper Stahl.

Joh. Herrmann Fuhr and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

It is possible that Elisabeth died, and that Johann Herrmann remarried to someone named Barbara (or that Elisabeth was actually Barbara Elisabeth).

There is a widow Barbara Fuhr who settled in the Volga German colony of Frank and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 63. This Johann Hermann Fuhr arrived in Oranienbaum aboard the same ship as several other families who settled in Frank.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hermann Fuhr came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that widow Barbara Fuhr came from the German village of Hirschfeld in the "Freie Adel Provinz der alten Ritter" (Free Nobel Province of Ancient Knights).

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
