Discussion & Documentation

Johann Konrad Koch, a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Anna Maria, age 20; Nikolaus, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum aboard the ship Die Vergelte Weintraube under the command of Skipper Anderson.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767. Father Konrad was the only surviving member of the family. He is recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 35 along with his new wife Anna Maria.

The 1767 census reocrds that Konrad Koch came from the German village of Gross Winterbach [?] in the Kurpfalz region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Koch family among the Volga German colonies.
