Philipp Bott, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and sons (Ludwig, age 5; Johann, age 2) arrived from Lubeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Heidemann.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 16 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 119.
The 1767 census records that Philipp Pott [sic] came from the German village of Göttingen [?] in the Hessen-Kassel region.
