Samuel Gottfried Schmidt, a single craftsman (Handwerker), settled in the Volga German colony of Dreispitz on 16 September 1766. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 27.

The 1767 census records that Samuel Gottfried Schmidt came from the German village of Breslau in Schlesien (Silesia).
