Leindecker*

Johannes Leydecker, son of Johannes Leydecker, married on 13 July 1711 in Büdesheim to Elisabeth Löhr, daughter of Mattias Löhr.

The parish register of Büdesheim records the baptisms of the following children born to Johannes Leydecker & Elisabeth Löhr: (1) Simon, baptized 4 August 1712; (2) Anna Maria, baptized 9 February 1717; and (3) Johannes, baptized 9 July 1718.

Simon Leinendecker married on 4 January 1737 in Gaulsheim to Anna Margaretha Zimmer, daughter of Johannes Zimmer & Anna Margaretha Dorst. She had been born 19 February 1715 in Gaulsheim. [Johannes Zimmer had married on 7 November 1712 to Anna Margaretha Dorst.]

The parish register of Saints Pankratius & Bonifatius Catholic Church in Gaulsheim records the baptisms of the following children born to Simon Leinendecker & Anna Margaretha Zimmer: (1) Anna Margaretha, baptized 22 August 1737; (2) Johannes, baptized 18 May 1739; (3) Jakob, baptized 27 October 1740; (4) Anna Maria, baptized 21 November 1743; (5) Simon, baptized 26 October 1746; (6) Anna Barbara, baptized 2 March 1749; and (7) Katharina, baptized 11 September 1752.

Simon Leindecker, a farmer, his wife Anna, and daughters (Anna, age 23; Barbara, age 17½; Katharina, age 11) arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 24 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Лапоминк (Lapomink - a Russian river) under the command of Lieutenant Dmitry Krykov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767. The daughters are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 33 where the oldest daughter Anna Maria is married to Peter Philipp. [See Philipp Family.]

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Simon Leindecker came from the German region of Mainz.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Leindecker family among the Volga German colonies.
