Discussion & Documentation

Johann Andreas Müller, his wife Maria, and children (Maria, age 5; Johann, age 1) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. Johann Andreas is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 13 along with his new wife Susanna Bager.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Andreas Müller was a farmer while the 1767 census records that he was a mason (Maurer).

The 1767 census records that Johann Andreas Müller came from the German village of Strehla in Sachsen (Saxony) and that Susanna Bager came from the village of Wiesbaden near Frankfurt am Main.
