Johann[es] Rockenschuh, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot named Katharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Rehder.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Hildmann on 18 August 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 29 along with his new wife Maria Eva, [widow of Georg Dietz], and her children (Bernhard Dietz, age 20; Hans Georg [Adam] Dietz, age 15; Hans Kaspar Dietz , age 13).
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johannes Rockenschuh came from the German region of Bamberg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
