[Joseph] Anton Eckel, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.
Anton Jaeckel is recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 5 September 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 63 along with his new wife Elisabeth Dorothea and her mother Maria Christina [surname not recorded].
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Anton Eckel was a farmer from the German region of Bamberg. The 1767 census records that Joseph Anton Eklich [sic] was a saddler [Sattler] from the German region of Konstanz.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
